Stained glass designs

                                                  Stained glass designs
In Room 6 for the past 2 days we have been doing stained glass art.  We started doing a draft and then when the draft was finished we started the real one.  The theme was something based around Christmas, for example, the Grinch, candy cane, a reindeer and more.  They have been placed on the front windows of Room 6.  Here are some cool examples.

Kiwi sport

Kiwi Sport

On Tuesday week two some very nice people from James Hargest Senior came to Windsor North School to take us for  Kiwi sport.

The sports were cricket, basketball, tee ball, netball, football, touch rugby and athletics.  They taught us the rules and skills to play these games.  Most of the days were wet but some days we got lucky.  Kiwi sport ran for two weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We all really enjoyed having them come to our school to teach us new skills.  We look forward to them coming again.

Power of the dream

On Wednesday the 19th of October Windsor North School put on a great production called Power of the dream. The theme of the production was a mix of the Olympics and cultural dances. There were six main characters in the production played by Meadow Bodkin-Allen, Eli Zysmyle, Samuel Collins, Mia Switala, Amanda Polfrey and Sophie Byrne. Each scene was set at an airport where the athletes waited to get on board there flight. While they waited they remembered the places they had been and the cultural dance. Each class preformed a cultural dance from places such as India and Russia. Room 6 performed a cultural Russian dance with a mix of  folk dancing and Cossack dancing. The script was full of humor and fun thanks to Mrs Fitzgerald and Mrs Flaus who made the production possible. Windsor North's school production was to show everybody that dreams can come true if you keep believing.

Mini Olympics

On Wednesday the 17th of August Windsor North students were full of energy. Students were dressed up to support a country for Windsor Norths Mini Olympics 2016. A group of students relayed the Olympic torch down to the stadium. There was an awesome opening ceremony full of epic chants made by each country. After the opening ceremony 15 sports such as sack racing, archery, javelin, table tennis and hurdles were set up by the teachers. The groups went around 7 of the activity's being judged on the teams cooperation, respect and excellence. At the end there was a three way tie between Samoa, Canada and Brazil. To declare a winner they had a chant off. Canada's unique chant wowed the judges which meant that they got gold, with Samoa in second and Brazil in third. Everyone enjoyed the day.

Trip to Harold

In week five, on the 2nd and 3rd of June, we went to Harold. Teresa and Harold talked to us about empathy and self control. When Teresa talked about self control she mentioned about good leaders and bad leaders. Then our time was up. The next day we went back to watch a video clip. In-between scenes she stopped it to talk about the mistake. We got the stars turned on at one point.  The stars came on when the lights were completely turned off. Finally we looked at Tam to learn where different body parts are in our body.

The stars came on while Harold was singing.

School Disco!

On Thursday, the 2nd of June 2016, Windsor North School had a disco in the school hall. At the disco the P.T.A. supplied food, drinks and glow sticks that students could purchase. At the disco there was music. Some of the songs were, Watch me (Whip/Nae Nae), Stressed Out and No Money. We all jammed out to the music in style, and even dragged up some of our teachers (Mr Barnett) to dance!

Space - What's out there?

This Term at W.N.S we have been learning about our Solar System and Space. Some things we have been learning about are planets, stars and galaxies. We have learnt about some planets. Some of these planets are Saturn, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Mercury and Neptune. We have got a wonder wall in the class and every student has written a question to try and find the answer to during research time.

Our Room 6 wonder wall

We have watched this video about our solar system on YouTube. This link will show you the video.
